Background

Indian Institute of Public Policy (IIPP) is an independent non-profit think tank based in Chennai. IIPP seeks to contribute to a more vibrant think tank culture in India and in Tamil Nadu (TN). There were so many pressing policy issues which were being unaddressed and there seem to be a lack of research focus on certain areas where it was thought that a public policy think tank would serve a purpose. Addressing this has become a dream for K C Sundaram, the Founder – Managing Trustee of Sundaram Foundation, having experienced a vibrant think tank culture in the EU. Thus this think tank was founded in January 2014 with the initial support from the Sundaram Foundation. IIPP is incorporated as a public charitable trust in Chennai. K C Sundaram, Hari Subramaniam and Poornima Chandra Venkatesh are the founding trustees.
